Hosted by The Rotary Club of Sebastopol Sunrise the 13th Annual Cajun Zydeco Music Festival is being held on Saturday, Sept. 6, at a new location, Ive’s Park, just off Bodega Highway in the center of town. It will be dancing and dining under the Redwoods in this beautiful park setting.

This popular one-day event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is expected to attract thousands of visitors from throughout Northern California. Ticket prices are $17, if ordered in advance online or purchased at Pacific Market, and $20 at the gate.

To order online, go to www.winecountrycajun.com. A $1 service charge applies to all online ticket orders. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Proceeds help support local nonprofit organizations, school programs and Rotary International humanitarian projects.

“Our Cajun Zydeco Music Festival gets bigger and better every year,” said John Necker, event chairperson.

“This year we’re offering a range of instrumental and vocal styles sure to reach your heart and soul as these artists deliver the best Zydeco ‘move and groove’ dance rhythms to be found anywhere in the North Bay.

Most visitors bring their families and stay all day while enjoying each band, feasting on the unique Cajun cuisine or shopping at our growing variety of arts and crafts pavilions.

And, there is a playground for the kids. Blankets and chairs are welcome, but everyone is asked to please leave coolers and pets at home.”

The authentic Cajun menu includes Creole Gumbo, Crawfish Etouffee, Alligator Sausage, Crawfish and Red Beans and Louisiana Rice.

In addition there will be Cajun dogs, hot dogs, garlic fries and watermelon. Beer, wine, Hurricanes, soft drinks, shaved ice and bottled water will be on sale. There will be plenty of street parking available.

The live music lineup features the best of the best in today’s Zydeco scene. The Wings of Glory will perform from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. followed by the Wild Catahoulas from 11:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.; The Zydeco Flames from 1:20 p.m. to 2:50 p.m.; and Mark St Mary and the Louisiana Blues and Zydeco Band will take center stage from 3:10 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. Roddie Romero and the HubCity All Stars will close out the night playing from 5  to 6:30 p.m.

Dana de Simone will provide Zydeco dance instruction during the 20 minute breaks between band sets.
