The Windsor JV Jags faced little resistance in a 34-0 win against El Molino. The Lions came into the game 0-3 in league and showed they were overmatched against an undefeated Jaguars squad.
The Jags coach’s fears of a let down after a big win against Healdsburg last week looked to be a real possibility early on. The Jags did not look sharp early with turnovers and an overall lack of concentration. The Lions were able to hang close until the middle of the second quarter trailing only 7-0.
Windsor was able to regroup at half time and came out looking like the 7-0 team they are. The Jaguars controlled the second half and pulled away for a lopsided win.
The Jags were led by strong performances on both sides on the ball. Leading the offense were quarterbacks Christian McAlvain and Brad Grainger who continue to share duties since McAlvain's return from injury. Both QB’s were able to display their running skills with both having runs of over 35 yards and both scoring touchdowns. Vince Valdez led all receivers with three catches for 85 yards.
The defense was able to stifle the Lions for the entire game. The Lions were only able to manage three first downs throughout the game. The defense
The Jags are preparing for what should begin their toughest part of the schedule with a big test next week at Casa Grande. The Jags will continue their quest for a third straight SCL title with three tough games including Casa, Petaluma and Analy.
Coach Dustin Davis said “For us to reach our goals that we set at the beginning of the year we will have to be much more focused and consistent these last three games. All three of these teams are well coached and talented.”
