WATER WREATH — Prayers were said and a wreath was laid in the ocean for fishermen who were lost over the last year and to ask protection for those going out this year. The blessing ceremony was attended by several commercial and charter boats, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard. Afterward, each boat passed by Rick Powers’ New Sea Angler was blessed with holy water from the preachers onboard. Among those on the Angler were Fourth District Supervisor James Gore and his family. Capt. Phil Sanchez, whose boat these pictures were taken from, said he had lost four friends at sea. Sanchez was the lone survivor of a capsized boat in November 2014.
