On Thursday afternoon, June 20 one Cloverdale resident walked home to a surprise — a car had run into their fence, toppling part of it over, damaging a brick patio and nicking the side of their house on West Third Street.

Immediately following the accident, Cloverdale Police Officer Carlos Nunez said that the driver of the vehicle wasn’t injured, and that they were going “normal residential speed” when they drove through the stop sign on Commercial Street.

The driver was looking down at the radio, Nunez said, and wasn’t aware that they had run through the stop sign.

An onlooker said that running into the patio is what appeared to have stopped the vehicle.

According to Nunez, no physical damage was done to the inside of the house.
