GOOEY — Beginning this past school year, Jefferson Elementary implemented a new lunchtime program, dubbed the “Golden Tray Award,” to help encourage good behavior during lunch time. Each class was given points based on good behavior, and at the end of the year one class from each grade with the most points was rewarded with a prize of their choosing. After weighing in on what they thought the prize should be, the classes chose to slime Jefferson Principal Dr. Susan Yakich. The sliming took place on June 5, butting up against the end of the school year.

Each student from each of the winning classes was given a cup full of biodegradable slime and had the chance to drop it on Yakich’s head. The bright green goop was a hit with the students, though Yakich suggested that next year’s winners may want to choose something more refreshing, like a dunk tank.
