SCORING SURGE — Chuche Maciel poured in a combined 46 points in three games last week in leading the Eagles to a pair of wins.

The varsity basketball Eagles are coming off a busy week on the league schedule, logging two wins in three outings.

The Eagles opened the string on Jan. 14 with an 82-42 rout at Willits, but weathered a 65-60 home loss to Clear Lake two nights later. Cloverdale ended the stretch with a 61-42 win over St. Helena.

“We continue to play great team basketball, with five players scoring in double figure versus Willits, four against Clear Lake and three in double figures versus St. Helena,” Eagle’s coach Pat Fitzgerald reported. “We put together one of our best defensive efforts against St. Helena with 14 steals and six deflections in Friday's win.”

At press time the Eagles (5-2, 11-7) were at the halfway mark in the NCL 1 season, with home and away dates scheduled with Middletown on Jan. 22 and Kelseyville on Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
