Faces of West County is a new feature by Steve Einstein. This week's face of west county is Sonia Morse Tubridy.
Where were you born and raised Sonia?
Born in New York City (Manhattan) but grew up in a few different kibbutzim (collective farms) in Israel.
How long have you been here in Guerneville?
Since 1975! That’s 45 years.
You are the leader of so many great groups, from the Redwood Arts Council, to the Russian River Jewish Community, the River Choir, and the Jubilee Klezmer Ensemble, and you’re a very accomplished pianist. Where are your musical chops from?
I started with piano in NYC, and the rest is history. I graduated with a degree from The Academy of Music in Tel Aviv.
What do you want people to know about Guerneville?
It’s a town full of creative and independent-minded people.
