WASHINGTON, DC — Kenna Lee, Sebastopol resident, nurse and mother of three, was among a group of 73, including actress Darryl Hannah, arrested at the White House on Aug. 30 for sitting in to try and convince President Obama not to allow the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry tar sands from Canada down to Texas refineries.

According to a press release from Tar Sands Action, the group behind the campaign, 1,252 people were arrested over the course of the two-week rolling protest, spearheaded by environmentalist Bill McKibben, the founder of the grassroots climate campaign 350.org and the author of a dozen books about the environment.
