On May 15, Soroptimist International of Healdsburg honored the most improved middle school student from seven area elementary schools; a tradition that spans more than 45 years. The students and their parents, along with their teachers and principal were treated to lunch at Mountain Mikes Pizza. Each student was recognized by their teacher and awarded a certificate to honor their achievement. The Most Improved Student originated to salute theses hard-working students who have overcome academic and/or personal challenges and excelled in their studies. Front row, from left are Cristin Cespedes, Geyserville Elementary; Lilli Dayton, St. John's; Matisse Gallo, St. John's; Carla Barriga, Fitch Mountain Campus; Sasha Garcia, Healdsburg Junior High. Back row from left are Juan Carlos Diaz, Geyserville New Tech Academy; Austin Lopez, Alexander Valley Elementary; and Aydan Torres, Westside Elementary.
