We currently have one job opening at Sonoma West Publishers:
Community News Journalist
We are seeking a community-minded journalist to help cover, define and present the news to a dynamic and active readership in north and west Sonoma County. Our news team is small but covers a wide range of topics such as city halls, natural resources, community festivals, homelessness, cannabis and crime.
We post daily to our websites and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and we circulate daily e-newsletters. This position would be responsible for completing daily news stories, plus maintaining active community contacts and outreach.
The small communities we serve are energetic, engaged and diverse, and a journalist who works for us has the opportunity to refine and enhance their reporting and interviewing skills, social media engagement and website content management.
This position is currently suited for the COVID-19 shelter-in-place work restrictions. The company can provide computers and all necessary software and programs as well as a remote and secured connection via VPN to our news server and other staff. Office space is available, if needed.
To apply, send us a resumé, cover letter and three published clips of your work. Tell us about your print and digital presentation skills (or your learning curve) and convey your passion for community news. We look forward to hearing from you.
Email a cover letter, current resume and published clips to:
